A scarred fighter.
A girl with rules.
One night of unbridled passion.

There are three things you need to know about Elizabeth Bennett: she’s smart as a whip, always in control, and lives by a set of carefully crafted rules. She’s learned the hard way that people you love the most always hurt you in the end.

But then she meets Declan Blay, the new neighbor at her apartment complex.

A tattooed British street fighter, he’s the campus bad boy she’s supposed to avoid, but when he saves her from a frat party gone bad, all her rules about sex and love fly out the window.

She gives him one night of unbridled passion, but he longs for more.

With only a cardboard-thin wall separating their bedrooms, he dreams of possessing the vulnerable girl next door forever.

One night. Two damaged hearts. The passion of a lifetime.

Guys, I’m a Janeite.

I love Jane Austen more than most women love chocolate. She is my idol, my hero, my favorite writer and my constant study. I am a member of The Jane Austen Society of North America, I have a Jane Austen Book Club and I collect Jane Austen memorabilia (especially Darcy & P&P stuff) to the point of hording. I read Pride and Prejudice at least once a year and I indulge a ton of Jane Austen Fan Fiction, adaptions, and retellings constantly.  I could live on that stuff alone.  I love to see how an author can spin my Darcy into something new and make me fall in love again and again. But…what is most important to me in an adaption is Elizabeth, she needs to be done right. Elizabeth Bennet is my favorite heroine, she is so ahead of her time, she is timeless, she is perfect and I will not stand for a weak Lizzie.

Being that I am obsessed with JAFF,  I have read some of the best work out there by Jane Austen Authors and I have read some really, really bad stuff. So when I read JAFF, I read with a critical eye, I am not a purest by any means, but I take my JA reading very serious.  I take all the variables into consideration when reading a modern story based on P&P because I know they are going to be different and will not follow the same themes or be as chaste but they do need to have the Elizabeth and Darcy feel.

I didn’t know Dirty English was based on P&P, I wanted to read it because of the cover, I am a cover girl. I mean look at that cover!!!  It really is my biggest weakness…A HOT ENGLISH MAN!  It was a given, I had to read it; then to find it was based on P&P, I was so excited!!! Another thing to mention is, as far a New Adult P&P adaptions go, they are few and far between, so I quit reading whatever I was reading at the time to start! Needless to say I fell in love.

To keep it simple…

Modern in its adaption, Dirty English captures the wit of Elizabeth, the heart of Darcy and all the feels of P&P.  Declan is one of my top 10 Darcy adaptions of all time.
