I have never been ashamed of the fact that I love YA novels. In fact, I love them so much, I have pretty much built my career around them. I taught 8th Grade Reading for a few years and my favorite part of teaching was introducing my students to the world of books and YA novels. We read some of the best YA books as a class, I know I made many of my students life long readers by introducing them to books they could relate to and books they loved. I am now a high school YA librarian and I get to book talk all day, everyday with the students on my campus, it is a dream job for any book pusher. Getting young people to read is my passion and my calling, it is what I love to do and this is the genre I love best. I am a proud YA book advocate…#IReadYA.
Young Adult novels are very real. If you want to know what is going on in the lives of teens today, in the life of your teen, pick up a YA novel. We have it all from the Dark to the light, from the serious to the funny and everything in between. Here are a few books I have read THIS YEAR (2015) so far and others I am anxiously awaiting!
Saint Anything by Sarah Dessen

Sarah Dessen is one of those authors I can recommend to any girl and she will come back for more. She is also an author I know will have a plot driven story, a heroine that is positive and relatable, and hero that is swoon worthy. All very important factors in YA.

The Scarlet Series by A.C. Gaughen is one of my favorite series! It begins with Scarlet, sequel is Lady Thief and the finale is Lion Heart. It is a variation of the Robin Hood legend and is fantastic!! This tale is wonderfully thought out, features action and adventure and has a romance at the heart of it. I LOVE IT!!
All the Bright Places by Jennifer Niven
