A young Israeli adventurer, decides not to follow the worn path. He wants to experience the unknown. His dream is to find his way deep into the uncharted and be the first to discover a tribe that wasn’t yet explored. In the colonial part of La Paz, Bolivia Yossi is sensing he is followed by the rugged looking older European man. Karl Ruprechter an Austrian geologist the man introduces himself. This is the man Yossi has been looking for for over a year. Karl promises to take Yossi to the Toromonas the elusive tribe that evades contact, deep in the upper Madidi, there’s gold nuggets in the river. Yossi is sold. When two of his best friends Kevin the tough American Photographer and Marcus the sensitive Swiss School teacher try to stop him from risking his life, Karl the manipulator turns things around and the foursome leaves civilization in search of the mystery of the jungles. A month later they are at eachother’s throats. The social masks have shuttered they see themselves naked and raw. The group breaks into two. Marcus follows Karl up tributary, they are never seen again. KEvin and Yossi build a raft and shooting white water they enter a canyon and explode on a huge rock, in the debris they lose each other. Alone and bare to the bone Yossi’s life long dream has turned into his worst nightmare. No knife, no gun, no food and in the midst of a massive rainy season – one man is tested to the utmost extreme and survives against all odds. It is a story of self discovery and redemption. Alone for weeks in the forest the ordeal is beyond imagination. The amount of punishment inflicted upon him is utterly horrific, jaguars, deadly snakes, hatching worms under his skin, falling from a cliff, attacked by man eating termites, sunk in sticky swamps, burning alive by thousands of fire ants and yet miraculously his spirit rises, in the forest he finds himself and his redemption.
Yossi Ghinsberg is an Israeli adventurer, author, entrepreneur, humanitarian, and motivational speaker based in Australia.
Ghinsberg is most known for his survival story of when he was stranded in an uncharted part of the Bolivian Amazon jungle for three weeks in 1981.
Yossi’s book ‘Jungle,’ is published in over 20 languages and distributed worldwide with millions of copies sold. Published by Random House, Pan Macmillan, National Geographic, Penguin, Summersdale and Skyhorse amongst others and critically reviewed and acclaimed by the LA Times, The Washington Post, CNN and may others.
